Water Purifier FAQ

The filtered water can be directly consumed by the B&H water purifier (except EF100). However, if the water is not drunk immediately and exposed to the air, bacteria will still grow even after filtration. It is recommended to drink immediately.

The purpose of boiling water is to volatilize chlorine and sterilize after heating. B&H water purifiers use CTO-grade activated carbon to remove chlorine in the water, and high-density ceramic micron-sized pores to remove bacteria. Therefore, the water does not need to be boiled.

The filter has their lifespan, which is calculated by time or flow rate. Although the usage amount may not exceed its filterable limit, it is recommended to replace within the time specified by the manufacturer (Generally 9 to 12 months) to ensure the safety of drinking water. There is no guarantee that the filtering function will still be effective, if the replacement time has a long period of expiration.

It is the same situation that food is not recommended for eating after its expiry date.

Because boiling water will chemically change the ionized calcium in the water, it will become CaHCO3 (Calcium bicarbonate) after being heated and boiled. According to foreign literature, it has no effect on human health.

The B&H filters can effectively remove soluble lead. Lead can enter the human body through diet, breathing, and the surface of the skin. If taken in excess and absorbed by the body, lead can affect multiple organs and body functions. These effects include neurodevelopmental, anemia, hypertension, digestive system disease, kidney function impact, fertility impaired and poor pregnancy.

Generally, will advise clients to start with the placement and budget. If the kitchen-sinks have enough space, you can consider choosing a countertop water purifier. The installation is simple and convenient, and it only takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete the installation. On the contrary, if the kitchen sink does not have enough space or you want to hide the water purifier, it is recommended to use the undersink model and install it by a technician. The countertop water purifier is divided into “Single Tube” and “Dual Tube” model. The single tube water purifier is equipped with a white tube and attached to an individual hook tube. The hook tube outputs the filtered water, while tap water enters the purifier through the white tube. The single tube water purifier can be placed in different positions.

On the contrary, the dual tube water purifier is equipped with two white tubes. Both tap water and filtered water will pass in and out via the faucet valve. The dual tube water purifier has greater flexibility and space saving because it is not bundled with an individual hook tube. The dual tube design makes it easier to output the filtered water into kitchen utensil.

B&H Coldstream Ocean Max is Hong Kong’s unique dual ceramic layer replacement filter, manufactured in the UK, providing the highest quality and protection. It is made of diatomaceous earth, combined with silver element and built-in activated carbon rod. Its 0.2-0.5 micron pores can effectively block 99.99% of virus(rotavirus), bacteria and pharmaceuticals. Ocean Max is also filtering 99.9% of chloroform, chemicals and heavy metals.

B&H Coldstream CTO Plus is also manufactured in the UK, made of single layer diatomaceous earth with silver element and built-in activated carbon rod. The 0.5 micron pores can effectively block 99.9% of chloroform, chemicals and heavy metals. Tested by SGS based on fresh water in Hong Kong, it can block 99.8% of lead. Particulates and VOC can also be filtered out by CTO Plus, an affordable choice for daily use.

In general, Ocean Max is an advanced model, most suitable for families with children and the elderly.

B&H countertop water purifier support most standard faucets, 22mm external thread faucet and 24mm internal thread faucet common in kitchen and bathroom, both can be installed immediately after purchase.

If the faucet is not of the above standard size, it can be successfully installed through an adapter in most cases, and the adapter will charge a fee of HK$70. Faucets with extractable spout are common in new housing estates or newly renovated units, the B&H countertop water purifier can also be installed with B&H special adapter. Customers can also choose an additional rotating shower faucet socket, allowing the use of shower mode and 360 degree rotation.

In order to provide professional services and arrange suitable accessories, it is recommended that customers take photos of the faucet first. Then remove the faucet aerator and measure the diameter. The name of the housing can be provided at the same time for follow-up.

For countertop water purifier, we encourage customers to understand their faucets before purchase, and complete installation by themselves. Usually, the installation process is simple and convenient, which can save on-site service charge and gain knowledge of home faucets. Generally, the installation process only takes a few minutes to complete. There will be a service charge of HK$350 - $450 if required technician on-site service.

B&H also provides undersink installation service, the service charge is between HK$500 - $700. Depends on the model and complexity of the purifier.

Special attention should be paid to the following situations:

1) If the technician needs to remove the old/original purifier, HK$250-$500 will be charged.

2) If the water pressure is higher than 6bar, an additional pressure reducer must be installed, which is HK$450.

3) Undersink purifier requires professional technique, a skilled technician is highly recommended.
